WHO WE ARE
STEAM Academy CIC is a Community Interest Company dedicated to delivering inclusive coding, STEAM and digital skills education for children aged 7–14.
We work with schools, families, community organisations and funders to widen access to high-quality learning opportunities that build confidence, creativity and future-ready skills.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to ensure that all children — regardless of background, confidence or learning style — have access to engaging, supportive and inclusive STEAM education.
We aim to:
- Build confidence and curiosity in learning
- Develop core digital and problem-solving skills
- Reduce barriers to participation in technology
- Support children who may not thrive in traditional learning environments
WHY STEAM ACADEMY CIC WAS FOUNDED
STEAM Academy CIC was established in response to growing inequalities in access to digital skills and creative learning opportunities.
Many children face barriers such as:
- Limited access to technology
- Learning differences or neurodiversity
- Low confidence in academic settings
- A lack of inclusive, engaging provision
We believe early, positive experiences with coding and STEAM subjects can transform how children see themselves as learners.
OUR APPROACH
STEAM Academy CIC takes a child-centred, inclusive approach to teaching and learning.
Our programmes are:
- Practical and hands-on
- Structured yet flexible
- Designed to build confidence before complexity
- Supportive of different learning styles
We prioritise encouragement, accessibility and wellbeing alongside skills development.
INCLUSION & ACCESSIBILITY (VERY IMPORTANT FOR FUNDERS)
STEAM Academy CIC is inclusive by design.
Staff, including leadership, have lived experience of dyslexia and neurodiversity, which informs our accessible and empathetic approach to learning.
This lived experience enables us to:
- Design activities that reduce learning anxiety
- Offer alternative ways to engage with content
- Create safe, supportive learning environments
- Recognise and nurture different strengths
Inclusion is embedded across all our programmes, not added as an afterthought.
